Away From Home
At Lemond New World Cuisine, It’s easy to forget you’re
in a restaurant
…
This is one of those comforting places where it’s hard to
order wrong.
…
There is serious, smoky gumbo and the obligatory tomato-basil soup
du jour, here in a light fresh version that doesn’t depend
on buckets of butter and cream to win you over. Something as basic
(even boring-sounding) as a grilled chicken sandwich with pesto
and bacon can emerge from this kitchen so perfectly made that it
alters your standards for the dish.

Every
neighborhood deserves a place like this for convenient and tasty
home-cooked meals. Owners Reggie and Merinda Martin even cater.
We enjoyed their blackened-chicken-salad platter (with a definite
kick) and the linguine with crisp-cooked vegetables, but we really
praised their authentic Louisiana gumbo and bread pudding. Roasted
chicken and layer cakes are also winners.
